Still in town

We've been practicing a lot over the past few days, and it's going pretty good. We're doing some "unspoken dramas," AKA mimes. They're actually fairly easy to understand and one or two of them uses a narrator. We've learned a lot of songs, in Spanish of course, and they're pretty cool. We've pretty well been having a blast with a few of the other teams here in Lima before we all go out. It's been a lot of fun. Our team is going to 4 diff places before our mid-summer debriefing in Nazca. The first place we'll go is Huarochiri, and we head that way on Sat. So, all of our material has to be learned by then.
I was no-kidding sick a couple few days ago. I woke up early Sun morning and I felt like I had the flu or something. I drank some waters and took some ibuprofens, and that kept me alive until about lunchtime. We went to a sweet church that's held in a movie theatre, and I'm talking the nicest movie theatre I've ever seen (3-4 stories). They played some sweet music. On the walk back to the hostel/REAP office, I felt like a sack of crap. I slept all afternoon, painedly woke up for an ESL class, and went back to bed ASAP. I felt achy all over with a killer headache. It could be food poisoning, who knows? I basically slept in total discomfort (I even experienced a little delerium) for about 20 hours, with a break in the middle. My killer fever finally broke Mon morn around 7, and after that I became a person again. Today I feel great, all better. No worries, Mom.
Going to eat now... By the way, the food here is A1 and awesome. Holla at y'all later!

Johnny,

I am so sorry that you were sick. You haven't been that sick in a while. I hope you really are doing better. When one of your team mates said you were sick, I figured it was your allergies. I will pray that you continue to feel better and that you don't have any relapses. I love you so much, Mama

john, john, john... methinks that you played sick just to get attention. After all, you are john franklin green IV. Everybody knows that you need only flex your massive muscles for like 30 seconds to kill any and all unwanted bacteria or viruses in your body. Nonetheless, I rejoice that your "sickness" is no more. I rejoice even more that the grub is scrumptious. XOXOxxoXo
love ya bunches~

Juan Francisco Verde, Quatro--
I'll bet you didn't waste any of the antibiotic you took with you on such a meager illness. Save it for something like Ebola or Polio or Smallpox or something more substantial! Anyway, glad to hear that you survived the Andean Revenge! Nothing to report at home. We pray for you and the Peruvian people every time we think of you! We want documentation of your non-aural dramas. Make us an MPEG or two; we need proof. But, we already knew you had talent: e.g., Knight #1 and Cockney Singing Man. Later! Be Blessed! Love ya, JFG! Pappy

John, if you're getting sick then you're not being like Dwight K. Shruke, he's never been sick a day in his life. BTW, I so didn't know we shared a middle name... We're practically brothers... Anyway, continue doing the good work...
in His grip,

This internet is so horrible that it won't let me post a new entry, so I'll do it like this. We're in Huarochiri, which is in the province of Lima. But, we're fairly deep into the Andes, at about 10,000ft. The place is absolutely gorgeous, with huge mountains and very green valleys. We're at a site that already has some college summer missionaries here, and they're running into a lot of problems. The town, about 2000 peeps, is strongly Catholic. So, you can pray about that. Baptists are not very liked around here. But, we have some appointments to do our dramas and stuff, so that's progress. I really have to go now. Thank you all. Dios te bendiga!

I've finally got another minute to internet. I don't know why it won't let me post. Anyway, I'm loving these montañas. The bus ride here was... interesting. We wound up and down huge mountains on a narrow, one-lane road. Very often were we a foot from the edge of a cliff, and you can forget about guard rails. The whole ride was 8 hours, but the scenery was very entertaining. We're finally in some clean air, and we're diggin that. Lima the city is ALWAYS smoggy, with a constant haze over the entire city. It's from the pollution, so breathing in Lima is dangerous. We're a little low on oxygen up here, but this mountain air is quite refreshing.
The food here is so cheap. Since we've been out of Lima, we haven't paid more than 5 soles for a meal. One dollar equals 3.14 soles. In Huarochiri, we eat for 3 soles. That's less than a dollar! It's kinda cold up here, but I like it. No sweating means few showers, and no showers means no ice-baths.
We have to return to Lima on Wed to catch a bus to our second site, Fajardo. But, I think that's in the mountains too. Well, gotta go eat. We played with some kids tonight, and I'm kinda pooped. Holla, dawgs.

Hi Johnny,

I'm sorry I missed your call the other night. Daddy says you sound like you are having a great time. I got home from San Diego safe and sound. Emma had her shots today and has been quite fussy. Last time she got two shots in each little leg, but I am not sure what she had today. Dewey is as camp and Daddy and David are on the porch enjoying the rain! It finally rained and put out the Waycross fire. We love you and are praying for you constantly.

Love, Mama
